Good morning everyone!

Today we thought you might like to try some of these art ideas from Mrs Bearwish. I think you would do these very well. Perhaps you could send us a photo of your creation? Have fun!

Spirals in Art

This very famous piece of art by Matisse was based on a minibeast you may find in the garden. You might notice the spiral on their back.

Look how big it is.

How do you think he made it?

Matisse was one of many artists who were inspired by geometry in nature.

You could make a snail or another minibeast like Matisse. He used collage by cutting out coloured paper and sticking it on.

Do you like these ones other children have made?

They look lovely don’t they….. go on have a go!

Earth Day

Good morning everyone!

As you know today is Earth Day. A very special day celebrating our amazing and beautiful world. Here are some craft ideas you might enjoy making as you think about our world and how we can make sure we look after it and protect it too.

Earth Hour

This Saturday you can join in with Earth Hour . Mr Moore explains how…….

Our School Assembly this week was all about the Harmony Principle Interdependence which links really well with Earth Hour.
We would really like you and your child to take part in WWF Earth Hour which is happening on Saturday 28th March. https://www.earthhour.org/ This is where people and famous landmarks across the world will be turning off all their lights and electrical appliances. This will be happening at 8.30pm UK time but you can do it at a time that suits you. This will show your support for strategies that will help to solve the problem of global warming. People will be lighting candles to read a book, having a candle-lit dinner, stargazing, or simply switching off their lights and TVs for an hour. We would like you to do the same, if possible, and be as creative as you can. Please take a photo of how you celebrated Earth Hour and email it to earthhour@damers.dorset.sch.uk by 5pm on Sunday 29th March. We will share some of the photos on our blogs next week. Please make sure you write your name and class in the subject box.
Also here are some educational activities you can do as part of EarthHour https://www.wwf.org.uk/get-involved/schools/school-campaigns/earth-hour-schools?dm_i=38LF,10AQU,3CWX1V,3TTA9,1
